BA (Hons) Commercial Photography

From crafting impactful CVs to securing industry placements, participating in competitions, and showcasing your work, we embed the acquisition of professional skills into every aspect of our programs at Arts University Plymouth. Our Industry Liaison Groups collaborate to shape our curriculum, ensuring you gain real-world experience.

<p dir="ltr">Our curriculum is enriched with a diverse schedule of visiting lecturers and photographers, many of whom actively participate in running practical workshops, contributing to group critiques and seminar discussions, and providing portfolio review sessions. Talented photography alumni, including industry professionals such as Harry Borden, Suki Dhanda, Tom Oldham, and Candice Farmer, regularly visit our campus, offering valuable insights and networking opportunities. Many also extend work placement and assisting opportunities to our students.</p> <p dir="ltr">Students have opportunities to work with brands and companies such as China Fleet Club, Royal William Yard, B Kinda, Hubbox, BB Excell Designs, Donna’s Dungarees, The Box, WonderZoo, Charlotte Eatock Jewellery, Getty Images, Morph Retouch, Alex Bailey Photography, Catling Creative, Amy Currell Photography, Female Collective, The Range Plymouth, Pro:Direct Sport. <br /></p> <p>Upon graduation, our students pursue various career paths, such as <strong>assistants, e-commerce photographers, producers, stylists, editors, </strong>and<strong> retouchers</strong>. The surge in <strong>online</strong> <strong>shopping</strong> has spurred a new industry, with major brands establishing photographic studios for <strong>online</strong> <strong>retail</strong> and <strong>social</strong> <strong>media</strong> <strong>content</strong>. Local businesses like the <strong>Range, Saltrock, Seasalt, </strong>and<strong> Pro-Direct Sport</strong> hire our graduates. Others work for companies like <strong>Kurt</strong> <strong>Geiger</strong> and <strong>Audi</strong> <strong>UK</strong>. Mny of our graduates progress into <strong>self-employment</strong>.</p>

Margo
Born in Poland and living and working in Plymouth, Margo quit her job at the age of 33, and reignited her passion for photography by studying a BA (Hons) Commercial Photography degree at Arts University Plymouth, graduating with a First Class Honours in 2018. She completes her Masters in Photography in 2023 and her work has been shortlisted in a number of competitions, including winning a placement with Rankin, exhibiting across the UK and overseas. Margo’s wedding photography saw her win at the South West Wedding Awards 2021, being named the best Bespoke Wedding Photographer in the South West. Margo also works with small business owners and entrepreneurs producing brand photography and portraits.
