Introduction to CNC Milling

<p dir="ltr">Fab Lab South West is an active workshop and digital fabrication space, the perfect environment for practical learning and exploration. </p> <p dir="ltr">During this course, you will have the opportunity to explore our range of CNC Mills including our MDX-40a, MDX-540 and Roland Mini Mills.</p> <p dir="ltr">This course will cover:</p><ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Understanding how CNC milling works (including health and safety, materials, limitations),</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Toolpathing strategies for milling operations,</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Understanding feeds, speeds, and cutter choices,</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Basic machine operation and maintenance,</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">General troubleshooting.</p></li></ul> <p>No prior knowledge of CNC milling is required, although basic machine competency would be desirable, as well as a basic understanding of Fusion360 software. </p> <p dir="ltr">Within six months of completing this course, students are eligible to apply for the Workroom Create Programme, which will allow them to have continued membership access to Fab Lab South West to continue self-led skill development. <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/alumni/workroom-create">Find out more about Workroom Create here</a>.<br /></p>
