Our Short Courses offer a broad range of activities designed to introduce you into the creative disciplines on offer at Arts University Plymouth.
<p dir="ltr">Whether you're looking to develop your creative practice, learn a new technique or reconnect with making, our Short Courses offer the opportunity to learn in a specialist arts university environment.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Drawing on more than 170 years of creative education, Arts University Plymouth brings together expert practitioners, industry-standard facilities and a vibrant community of artists, makers and designers. Our Short Courses have been created for adults at every stage of their creative journey, whether you're building professional skills, exploring a new discipline, or making time for creativity alongside work and everyday life.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Delivered in our specialist studios and workshops, each course offers hands-on learning, expert guidance and the chance to work with professional equipment in an inspiring creative setting. From ceramics to printmaking, digital fabrication to textiles and more, our programme is designed to help you develop practical skills, grow your confidence and connect with a community that values creativity.<br /></p>
<p>Our first programme of Short Courses was announced in August 2026. This launch marks the beginning of a growing programme that will continue to expand, offering more opportunities to learn, create and develop new skills throughout the year. <br /></p>
<p>You can book onto a course by visiting the individual <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/short-courses-and-masterclasses">course pages</a> and clicking 'Book Now' at the top left of the page. This will take you through to an Eventbrite booking form. </p>
<p>You can pay for your course via the online booking system (Eventbrite).</p>
<p>Our in-person courses take place in the studios at our <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/visit/getting-here">Tavistock Place </a>campus. </p>
<p>Please arrive 15 minutes early for your first session. You will be enrolled onto your course and a student card will be issued to you.</p>
<p>Yes, please let us know if you have a disability and require any additional assistance at <a href="mailto:shortcourses@aup.ac.uk">shortcourses@aup.ac.uk</a>. You will also be sent a registration form after you have paid for the course where you can give us more details about any access requirements you may have.</p>
<p>‘Beginner’ means you have little or no experience of the subject, or you would like more time learning the basics.</p>
<p>‘Improver’ or 'intermediate' means you’ve learnt the basics or have previously completed a beginners course and want to extend your knowledge.</p>

<p>Our talented teachers are practicing artists and creatives, some of whom teach on our other courses. All of them are experienced teachers and have professional experience in their field.<br /></p>
<p>Progression onto <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate">degree level</a> or <a href="https://www.aup.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate">masters level</a> study is available at Arts University Plymouth. Throughout the year we hold <a href="https://www.plymouthart.ac.uk/visiting/open-days">Open Days</a> where students and their families can visit our campuses, chat to current students and staff, and find out about all the options available to them for creative study here at Arts University Plymouth.<br /></p>
