Our People
Carl Slater

Since studying on ND General Art & Design in 1998 at Plymouth College of Art, Carl went on to study his MFA at Central Saint Martins School of Art, London in 2006. Having continued his practice as an artist showing both nationally and internationally in galleries, curating projects and collaborative projects, in 2012 he founded KARST, Plymouth’s major independent artist-led gallery space.

Carl and his team at KARST are dedicated to showcasing current and experimental visual art, through an international exhibition programme. They encourage local fine art graduates to continue engagement with art after their studies through facilitating the KARST Graduate Residency Programme. Carl and his team actively supported the creative and professional development of two recent graduates; offering a studio space and platform to immerse themselves in the development of new work and to become actively involved in artist-led practice.
