Amy Pike

<p dir="ltr"><strong>Amy Pike</strong> is Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for BA (Hons) Graphic Design at Arts University Plymouth, where she also teaches on the MA Visual Communication programme. Driven by a passion for typography, visual language, and play, Amy blends high-level industry experience with academic leadership and ongoing creative research.</p> <p>Amy began her career in 2016 in the sports industry as a graphic designer for the Exeter Chiefs rugby club and Sandy Park Stadium. While at the Chiefs, she led rebranding efforts for parts of Sandy Park stadium, developed a new visual brand for the 2019/20 season, and created artwork for England Rugby and the city of Exeter. Her work was showcased to audiences of over 250,000 people through features on BT Sport, alongside valuable collaborations with major brands like Red Bull.</p> <p>Alongside her teaching, she operates <strong>Setter</strong>, a typeface design studio and research practice, and <strong>The Play Method</strong>, an initiative bringing adults together through hands-on, play-led creative workshops. Amy’s research practice investigates the intersection of play theory, visual systems, and cultural history. A key strand of her work examines the historical epigraph systems of the Maghreb region, drawing on her own ancestry to explore how non-Western letterforms, stone-carved inscriptions, and historical language structures can inform contemporary typography, visual communication, and creative inquiry.<br /></p>
